Call Me “Anytime”
I’ve been seeing a lot of:
“I would rather hear about your pain than attend your funeral...”
or whatever posts...
It looks all cute, like you’re outgoing and doing
…“all you can”…
…“being an ally”...
But don’t just post it for the interactions...
Mean it.
Do it.
Don’t tell someone in need of a friend that they can call “anytime” (🙄)
And then, when someone reaches out, you roll your eyes and/or make excuses to end the call…
Or maybe you don’t even answer, you just silence the ring, flip the phone over and go back to whatever you were doing...
Don’t just fake it for social media...
And then when something happens-
You post something about- “why didn’t they reach out?!”
They did…
You couldn’t be bothered…
or
There was something more important…
or
They felt like they were being a burden…
Just think about how it feels to be someone who thinks you’re a safe place…
Only to find out the hard way that they actually aren’t welcome or safe at all...
